Join us for a tour around the Drawn from Life exhibition at The Beaney and then take part in a practical workshop which explores different approaches to drawing and mark making. Ancient Egyptians

Work with our fun facilitator and engage in role play in this fun, hands-on session. Mummify a classmate and groan as the intestines are pulled out, wrap an animal mummy against the clock, investigate real artefacts from Ancient Egypt, and create a real papyrus cartouche!

Investigating and Creating Portraits

Roman Technology & Roman Everyday Life plus Museum Visit

This popular hands-on session gives participants the exciting opportunity to investigate different types of Roman technology, and experience first-hand the jobs of Roman workers and slaves, including hammering a Roman coin (to take home as a souvenir) and building and firing mini catapults. Then, take part in a fun hands-on workshop, in which children take on the role of archaeologists investigating real artefacts from Roman Canterbury. Half the class explores the museum displays for 40 minutes, while the other half investigates the artefacts, before swapping round.

Activity sheets are available for this workshop!

Combine with our lunch room for an additional £1 per child to make this a stress-free full day visit.

Experience what it was like to be evacuated, create and perform a drama based on real evacuee photographs, see and handle real wartime artefacts from Canterbury and visit the well-preserved remains of a World War Two Morrison shelter.
