Easter Holiday at Canterbury Museums and Galleries

Worried about keeping kids entertained for two whole weeks!? The museums are full of engaging activities to keep everyone in an eggcellent mood. Here’s what we have going on at The Beaney and Canterbury Roman Museum this Easter:

1. Hunt for dragon eggs!

What would Easter be without an Egg Hunt? This year our Egg Hunt has a scaly twist, for centuries people have told stories about dragons guarding treasure and we still do today. Come to The Beaney, explore the museum in search of dragon eggs and bag some tasty treasure for yourself! £2.50 per trail.

2. Find some famous faces

Visit our new Smallfilms Gallery, home to Bagpuss, the Clangers and other famous faces from TV past and present. Learn about why they are special to Canterbury and share your own memories of these much loved characters.

3. Draw!

Embrace your artistic side, take inspiration from the collection and make your own drawing to take home or display in The Garden Room! You can find other Explorer Points around the museum filled with games and fun things to do during your visit.

4. Kids Go Free in Roman Canterbury

Did you know that buried under Canterbury are secrets from the city’s ancient past? Go underground and back in time at Canterbury Roman Museum and guess what? Kids Go Free this school holiday! Available Friday 1 to Monday 18 April.

5. Making money?

If you’re looking for some coinage that’s not edible then back by popular demand is our Roman Coin Bash activity! Visit the marketplace inside Canterbury Roman Museum, learn all about Roman money and mint your very own coin to take home. £3 to make your own unique coin!
