Power of the Object Group
A group for people affected by dementia or social isolation, to get close to the museum...
In exploring belonging, we can celebrate our unique stories while recognizing the common threads that unite us. Whether it’s through the vibrancy of art, the rhythm of poetry, or the visual storytelling of animation, each medium offers a unique lens to reflect our experiences and emotions.
Artists from bemix are doing just that, using varied forms to delve into their personal narratives and the shared experiences of others. Our work invites us all to consider how belonging shapes our identities, influences our interactions, and fosters a sense of community.
So, what does belonging mean to you? Is it the laughter shared among friends, the camaraderie in a team, or the acceptance found in a supportive environment? Each perspective adds richness to the collective understanding of belonging, creating a tapestry that celebrates both individuality and unity.
We are bemix. Be Seen. Be Heard. Belong.
bemix are people with and without learning disabilities and/or Autistic people working and learning together. Whether it’s to be seen working, be heard campaigning or belong to a friendly group of people, people achieve their goals with bemix. Being in bemix means people gain opportunities and become more independent in learning, work, health, housing, money, travel, leisure and relationships.
As part of their work, bemix partners with, and supports, local and national organisations to hear, respect and empower people with learning disabilities and/or Autistic people. bemix promotes co-production, the importance of lived experience, disability awareness training and positive action to challenge negative attitudes about disability. With bemix, people can be seen, be heard and belong
