This idea has influenced a lot of literature throughout history including stories such as The Hobbit and Harry Potter.

Make Your Own Medieval Coat of Arms
Learn the meaning behind medieval symbols and create a coat of arms for yourself, your family or friends! Did you know? The three birds on the Canterbury Coat of Arms are choughs, allegedly taken from the Coat of Arms of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury who was murdered in the Cathedral in 1170.
