Session details

On arrival please introduce yourselves at our main visitor information desk where our facilitator will greet you and show you where to put coats and bags and lead you into the galleries where the session will take place.

There are two parts to the workshop. One group will investigate our Natural History collection on display with a member of the museum Collections & Learning Team to understand various animals, habitats and adaptations. The other group will study specimens up close in our Learning Lab to create detailed observational drawings. We also have a large collection of fossils and can include a fossil handling session as part of this workshop depending on your learning objectives.

The activities will take place in the museum galleries and are focused so it is recommended that you allow some time for a more general museum visit during your trip.

Other activities are available within the museum, each lasting approximately 45 minutes so you can add these to your workshop to tailor your museum visit to your class needs.
