Iron Age Helmet

This helmet can be dated back to the time of Julius Caesar’s invasion of Britain in 55 BC.

It is the first piece of archaeological evidence of this period. What surprised archaeologists that investigated this find was what was inside it. Inside the helmet were the cremated remains of a woman – the helmet had been used as a cremation urn!
