Anglo Saxon mount with animal design

The Anglo Saxons took inspiration from animals such as birds, fish and serpents when they made their beautiful designs. We have some very interesting examples at The Beaney such as this mount. It’s possible that this design is a bird, can you see it’s beak and it’s eye? If it is a bird then it’s likely to be a crow or a raven which were symbols of Woden.
