Rupert Bear History

Rupert Bear is a famous character that appeared in comic strips, children’s books and in television programmes. He was originally created over a hundred years ago by Mary Tourtel who lived in Canterbury. Rupert first appeared in the Daily Express on Monday 8 November 1920, in a single frame illustration called the ‘Little Lost Bear’, and continued to run in the paper every day from then on.
