Mosaics

Canterbury Roman Museum is built around the remains of an impressive Roman town house that had a beautiful Mosaic floor. Mosaics are patterns or pictures made from lots of small coloured stones or tile cubes. In latin these individual pieces are called ‘tesserae’ which is where we get the word ‘tessellate’ from.
