There’s a lot going on this October at the museums so here’s a handy run down of what’s happening at The Beaney and Canterbury Roman Museum.
October is a special time at the museums and this year is no different. Join in with our annual Spooktacular fundraising event at The Beaney.
We’re exploring everything that’s grim and scary in fairy tales!
Pick up our £5 Family Halloween Trail to explore the museum and unlock interactive puzzles. Solve the puzzles, complete the trail to claim a tasty reward and enter the competition for the chance to win an even bigger prize!
What’s more, we’ll be dimming the lights for our Spooky day on Saturday 29 October and opening especially on Monday 24 and 31 October.
As always fancy dress encouraged so bring your little monsters to The Beaney!
Book your Scary Tales trail(s)Rupert’s Centenary Celebration exhibition closes on Sunday 30 October so Half Term is the perfect time to catch the party!
The exhibition is filled with beautiful artworks and memorabilia from Rupert’s 100+ year history and jam packed with interactive games. You can also explore the museum collection and learn about Rupert’s creator, Canterbury’s Mary Tourtel.
The exhibition is perfect for some intergenerational experiences, so bring the family to the exhibition and enjoy learning and playing together with Rupert!

From Saturday 22 to Sunday 30 October 2022 Kids Go Free at the museum (2 kids to visit for free per paying adult). So head underground and explore the rich Roman history buried just under the city’s streets!
