Canterbury Museums and Galleries Christmas Gift Guide

It’s no secret that our museums are full to the brim with treasures, trinkets and treats – many of which sadly can’t be taken home (imagine trying to smuggle Charlie the Bull out the building?!) But fear not – there are lots of ways to take a little piece of Canterbury Museums and Galleries home with you and give to someone you love this Christmas! From LEGO sets and exclusive memberships, to Beaney prints and festive fun boxes, we have your yuletide shopping needs all wrapped up.

1) The Beaney’s Brickmas Gift Shop LEGO sets

LEGO Duplo and Minnie Mouse sets

As part of our big Brickmas event, we are thrilled to have a special Brickmas Gift Shop filled to the brim with all your LEGO set dreams. What better way to round off your trip to Santa’s Brickmas Workshop at The Beaney than with a cheeky brick shopping spree! The LEGO gift shop is kindly provided by Fenwick Canterbury and features all your faves from Harry Potter to Minnie Mouse. Find them at the museum’s Atrium, just outside the Special Exhibition Gallery.

This one’s for the museum lovers or anyone wanting to support vital services for the local community this festive season. From wellbeing workshops and world-class exhibitions, to internationally significant finds and rare Roman remains, our museums play an important part in Canterbury’s community. To help us continue supporting local people and retelling our city’s story, you can sign someone up to join our membership programme this Christmas! We have a whole range of memberships to choose from that have some brilliant benefits to boot.

3) Christmas Puppet Gift Box

Now, we reckon this gift makes for the perfect creative stocking filler to keep the kids busy on Christmas day. Help The Beaney elves spread joy and goodwill this festive season by making your very own Christmas puppet! Pick your gift box at random from our lucky dip at The Beaney and use the materials and instructions hidden inside to make either an elf, penguin, Santa or reindeer puppet. Plus, use your puppet to explore six simple ways to enjoy this special time of the year. £3 per box. Find out more about our Christmas Puppet Gift Boxes.

4) Beaney prints from Art UK

Ever wished you could have one of our artworks hanging on your own wall? Well you can now purchase framed prints of some of our best Beaney favourites on Art UK’s online shop. Choose from a classic Thomas Sidney Cooper scene, our famous Little Girl at the Door, peaceful local landscapes, and more! Make sure to get your orders in before 19th December so it arrives in time for Christmas day.

5) Canterbury Gift Card

We are all here for supporting local businesses, traders and makers at Christmastime. Canterbury is bursting with independent shops selling one-of-a-kind finds that make for the perfect unique gift, but sometimes it can be a little tricky to pick the perfect pressie! Instead, you can pick up a Canterbury Gift Card for free at The Beaney, add the money yourself online and avoid the awkward ‘I still have the receipt’ Christmas Day convo. The gift card can be redeemed at many of the city’s best restaurants, pubs, shops and attractions, allowing you to shop local and get that special someone exactly what they’re wanting this festive season.
