And at an event last Tuesday 8th May, the winners were announced, along with the unveiling of professional illustrations of their dreams created by local artist Charlotte Firmin, which are on display alongside the exhibition.
The competition was split into three age categories and there was a winner and runner up in each one.

The BFG in Pictures is a fun, family-friendly exhibition of the magical illustrations that brought the BFG to life. It is curated by Quentin Blake and features 40 of his original artworks, prepared for Roald Dahl’s classic story The BFG.
The exhibition is presented courtesy of the House of Illustration and includes unpublished illustrations which are being exhibited for the first time alongside the final illustrations for the book.
Chairman of the city council’s Community Committee, Cllr Neil Baker, said: “It’s been great to see such interest in the BFG exhibition and this competition at the Beaney. It’s a book I remember very fondly as a child, as do many people, so it’s an exhibition that’s sure to jog a few memories. There are still a few days left to make a visit.”
The BFG in Pictures runs until Sunday 20 May in the Beaney’s Special Exhibitions Room
